Founder at SODA

SODA was founded in 2009 by Sam Billingham who, having overcome her own experiences of Domestic Abuse, wanted to create a community where men and women who experienced and survived Domestic Abuse could support and guide one another as they escaped their abusive relationships and embraced their new lives.

Who are we?

SODA was founded by survivor Samantha Billingham, who set up the online group because she wanted to be the support that she never had.  She set up her support group in April 2009, after leaving her own abusive relationship in April 2006.  Her support was an 8 week awareness course of what she has survived.

Whether you simply need someone to talk to, advice on finding accommodation, completing paperwork or want to know where to turn for financial support, please get in touch and we will get back to you promptly and discreetly.

We are a voluntary group made up mostly of survivors, with an understanding of the complex cycle that domestic abuse and its aftermath can bring, which is why we focus on life after abuse with our campaign light at the end of the tunnel.

What do we do?

We offer ongoing, online and one to one support to survivors who have, or who are, experiencing domestic abuse, by giving hope and inspiration to others who might be in a dark place.  We do this by supporting others, raising awareness through social media and being a voice for the voiceless.  SODA also runs a project called Bag of Life, where we ask for kind donations of toiletries, sanitary products and old but working mobile phones which we pass to local safe houses to give to those fleeing domestic abuse.

When should people get in touch?

When it’s safe, when they are ready and when they need us.

They can visit our website www.sodahq.uk.
